Monochrome LCD displays, also known as LCM modules, remain an indispensable solution for applications where durability, low power consumption, and budget constraints are key. For this reason, they are widely used in industrial devices, including measurement equipment, POS systems, and data loggers. The Unisystem portfolio includes Winstar’s COG (Chip-On-Glass) monochrome LCD displays. In this article, we present three selected models: WO32032A, WO240128C, and WO320240H, discussing their key technical parameters, design differences, and typical application areas.

Winstar Monochrome LCD Displays – Model Overview
Selecting the appropriate LCD display often involves finding a compromise between size, resolution, and the ability to integrate it with the device electronics. For this reason, it is worth taking a closer look at three graphic monochrome COG LCD display models from Winstar: WO32032A (variants: WO32032A-TDI, WO32032A-TFH), WO240128C (variants: WO240128C-TFH, WO240128C-TMI), and WO320240H (variants: WO320240H-TFH, WO320240H-TFK).
Display Format and Resolution
The discussed monochrome LCD models differ in diagonal size (4.24″ for WO32032A, 3.75″ for WO240128C, and 3.78″ for WO320240H) and resolution (320 × 32 px for WO32032A, 240 × 128 px for WO240128C, and 320 × 240 px for WO320240H). This allows the appropriate model to be selected depending on the amount of information to be displayed and the project requirements, in either portrait or landscape orientation.
COG Construction and Integration Benefits
All three models use COG (Chip-On-Glass) technology, in which the display controller is mounted directly on the glass substrate. This solution eliminates the need for an additional PCB, reduces the number of electrical connections, and minimizes the overall module thickness. The COG design simplifies integration with device electronics while increasing resistance to vibration and mechanical shock.
Display Modes, Polarizers, and Optics
The WO32032A, WO240128C, and WO320240H models from Winstar are available in various optical configurations, allowing them to be adapted to specific operating conditions and user interface aesthetics. Depending on the version, displays are offered in positive mode (dark characters on a light background), providing good readability in daylight, or in negative mode (light characters on a dark background), preferred for applications operating in low-light environments.
The displays also differ in the type of polariser used, enabling better adaptation to specific working conditions. Available versions include transmissive polarizer (WO32032A-TDI and WO240128C-TMI), and transflective polarizer (WO32032A-TFH, WO240128C-TFH, WO320240H-TFH, and WO320240H-TFK).
Additionally, the displays differ in viewing direction. By default, they are optimized for a 6:00 viewing angle (bottom view), while the WO320240H-TFK variant offers a 12:00 viewing angle (top view), enabling better alignment with the device’s orientation.
Interfaces
In terms of communication, the discussed displays offer varying levels of integration flexibility.
The WO32032A model, featuring the simplest communication architecture, supports only the SPI interface, making it well suited for compact microcontroller-based applications.
The WO240128C and WO320240H models offer a wider range of communication interfaces, including SPI and parallel 6800 and 8080 interfaces (with additional I²C support for the WO240128C). This flexibility allows the communication method to be tailored to project requirements.
Environmental Parameters
All three models are designed for operation in an industrial temperature range from –20°C to +70°C, enabling their use in both indoor and outdoor devices exposed to varying environmental conditions.
