Conformal coating is a thin, transparent protective layer applied to PCBs and electronic components to shield them from moisture, dust, corrosion, vibration and other contaminants. This allows the circuits to operate reliably even in harsh conditions (e.g. in industrial, automotive, aerospace or military environments). Conformal coatings are usually made of acrylic, silicone, polyurethane or epoxy, and applied by spraying, dipping or selective coating. They increase the durability of electronic devices and protect them from environmental damage.
