UniTouch™ – Unisystem’s Touch Panels

The UniTouch™ capacitive touch panel line designed by Unisystem is a versatile solution that, thanks to its universal characteristics, is perfectly suited to a wide range of applications. The applied noise detection and frequency hopping functions in real time adjust the panel operation to the working conditions, ensuring correct operation even with frequent changes in the noise intensity.

Exceptional resistance and durability

A wide range of operating temperatures (from -30°C to 70°C) allows the use of products in outdoor applications. In electromagnetic immunity tests, UniTouch™ products achieve the highest results in terms of conductivity and radiation susceptibility.

The results of the tests are presented below:

  • ESD Capability: 8 kV/15 kV, Level 4 (IEC 61000-4-2)
  • EFT Capability: 2 kV/4 kV, Level 4 (IEC 61000-4-4)
  • Conductive Susceptibility: 10 Vrms, Level 3 (IEC 61000-4-6)
  • Radiated Susceptibility: 30 V/m, Level 4 (IEC 61000-4-3)

The use of unique algorithms measuring minor disturbances of the electromagnetic field, when the finger approaches the surface of the panel, guarantees correct operation even when operating in gloves.

UniTouch™ not only intelligently detects the accidental touch of large objects (palm function) but also supports the precise transfer of the movement of the finger or stylus into digital information. The filter function improves the linearization and correct location of the touch.

Water Rejection mode ensures correct operation of the panel also in high humidity conditions. The presence of water, especially salty, on the surface of the sensor can lead to the so-called phantom touch. Water is a conductive material, which can cause false signals that can be read by the controller as a touch. However, thanks to the appropriate configuration, in combination with the optimal sensitivity and design of the electrodes, the panel works flawlessly also when water remains on the surface of the sensor.

UniTouch™ main features:

  • Frequency Hopping
  • Noise detection
  • 10-points multitouch
  • Palm Rejection function
  • Water Rejection mode
  • USB and I2C interfaces
  • Drivers for Windows and Linux
  • Maximum glass thickness – 10mm

LCD TFT display

The standard UniTouch™ line has been designed to work with AU Optronics (AUO) industrial displays. AUO is a global leader in the field of optoelectronic solutions, as well as the first TFT LCD manufacturer, which was listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

The AUO offer is complete not only because of the wide range of display sizes (from 2.8 ” to 85”). The manufacturer offers all basic functionalities, including high brightness (up to 1000 cd/m²), increased contrast ratio (even 5000: 1) or high resolution, which makes the content displayed visible even in direct sunlight. The ability to operate in the industrial temperature range, exceptional resistance, and stability, as well as low energy consumption, are additional advantages for using the LCD TFT displays.

Optical bonding

Optical bonding is a process used to combine the display with a touch panel. It requires the use of not only a special optical adhesive but also appropriate technological solutions. This process also allows the display connection with special coatings, eg. AG (anti-glare), AR (anti-reflex), HC (hard coating) and polarizing filters. The adhesive used in the bonding process reduces the refractive effect because its refractive index is similar to glass. As a result, the reflection of light is reduced, and thus the quality of the displayed image is improved. The use of optical bonding also affects the physical strength of the module, and also protects it against dust and moisture condensation.

Unisystem has acquired the ability to design sensors and controllers for capacitive touch panels, as well as full integration with the glass cover and any bonding to the display.
