Resistive Touch Panel (RTP)

A resistive touch panel (RTP) registers touch when pressure brings two conductive layers into contact – it works with any tool or glove, but no multi-touch.

Also known as: resistive touchscreen, resistive touch screen

A resistive touch panel (RTP) is a touch technology based on measuring electrical resistance changes using two conductive layers (typically PET and glass) separated by a micro-gap. When pressed, the layers make contact, and the controller identifies the touch point.

RTP works with any tool – finger, stylus, or gloves – and is resistant to accidental touches, making it highly suitable for industrial, medical, and military use. Compared to capacitive panels, resistive touchscreens are less sensitive and do not support multitouch, but they are cost-effective, simple to integrate, and highly reliable in harsh environments.
