Double-sided adhesive tape (DSA) is a thin technical tape with adhesive on both sides, used for mounting electronic components – mainly when integrating displays with touch panels, protective glass (cover glass) or the device housing. It provides a durable, flexible and even bond between layers, allowing quick assembly without screws, clips or liquid glue.
DSA comes in various thicknesses and hardnesses, with adhesives of different tack levels and resistance to moisture, temperature and aging. In displays, it is used for mounting frames, bonding layers in bonding assemblies (e.g. Air Bonding) and as a sealing element to protect against dust and moisture. Choosing the right DSA tape affects the device’s mechanical durability, vibration and temperature resistance, and the finished product’s appearance.
