This model is slightly larger and heavier than the IDE303, offering a best reading distance of around 20 cm for OCR-B data from passports.

The IDE303 is a handheld OCR-B/MRZ reader with a 1280×1024 CMOS image sensor, designed to provide high-precision scanning capabilities. It features dual reading modes, including manual trigger and automatic reading, allowing for flexibility in various scanning environments. The device is equipped with both white and red LED lights to ensure accurate and reliable scanning of machine-readable zones (MRZ) from passports and ID cards, as well as a variety of 2D and 1D barcodes.
