RT218 – Small Barcode Scan Engine

The RT218 Small Barcode Scan Engine is a super small OEM 2D and QR barcode scan engine designed for a wide range of applications. It supports both 1D and 2D barcodes, including QR, DM, and PDF417, with automatic reading and command trigger functionality. Its compact dimensions are 23.5mm×16.32mm×6.8mm, making it ideal for space-constrained environments.

This scan engine offers multiple connection options, including TTL-232, USB EVK kit, and RS232 EVK kit (optional). The RT218 features a square and cross laser aimer, compact and lightweight design, and excellent barcode reading performance. It is compatible with various operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Android, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi, and supports most types of barcodes.

Certified by CE, FCC, RoHS, and IEC 60825, the RT218 meets high standards of quality and safety. It excels in reading almost all types of 1D and 2D barcodes, including QR codes, Aztec, Maxicode, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code128, Code 39, Codabar, UCC/EAN 128, RSS, ITF-14, and ITF6. This makes it suitable for various applications such as medical devices, lockers, shopping trolleys, vending machines, ATMs, express cabinets, ticketing machines, portable terminals, and tablets.

The RT218 is available in four versions to cater to different needs:

  • RT218-SR (Standard Range): Suitable for standard scanning distances, e.g., QR Code (20mil) readable from 35-230mm.
  • RT218-ER (Extended Range): Capable of reading barcodes from longer distances, e.g., QR Code (20mil) readable from 50-400mm.
  • RT218-SD (Short Distance): Optimized for short-distance scanning, e.g., Data Matrix (4*4mm) readable from 22-70mm.
  • RT218-HD (High-Definition): Ideal for reading high-density barcodes that are hard to read with usual scanners.

The RT218 scan engine integrates the imager and decoder board seamlessly, making it easy to integrate into various equipment. It can read poor-quality barcodes, including damaged, low contrast, torn, warped, or wrinkled barcodes. The square and cross aimer allows users to accurately and quickly point to the barcode, enhancing the user experience.

We provide comprehensive 3D-Drawing and integration guides to support quick and easy integration with your terminals. Optional integration accessories such as screws, flat cables, connectors, and USB/RS232 EVK kits are available upon request.

The barcode scan module can be controlled via commands for various functions, including reading and illumination. Detailed documentation and video presentations are available to guide you through command control and programming. Setup is straightforward with setting codes provided in the user manual, and we also offer a video guide to assist with the process.
